Mid-Season Action Heats This Week

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff of ECPI University,

If you have missed the first 3 weeks of collegiate esports action with the RAMS, then you have missed some absolute edge of seat, nail-biting, nerve grinding, esports action! The RAMS have fought hard and although the season record does not currently reflect that effort, the coaches could not be prouder of the team and their continued efforts and focus as they represent ECPI University in the premier collegiate esports conferences. Tune in this week for more exciting action as the RAMS hit their midseason stride and take on more collegiate opponents!

Last Week’s Results

Rocket League – Last week the ECPI Rams fell 2-3 to Middle Tennessee State University in an exciting and knock-down, drag-out match! The rams took 2 games and tied the MTSU at 2-2 and forced game 5 after being down 0-2. The last and final game also came right down to the wire and although they fought extremely hard, the rams did fall and take the first Rocket Loss of the season.

League of Legends – Last week the ECPI Rams took on Fail Sail University. We knew it was going to be an uphill battle as the skill gap between the two lineups was significant. However, thanks to a very strong draft and early game strategy by Coach James, the ECPI Rams took an early lead and held it right through the mid-point of the 1st game. At that point, some unfortunate positioning and lucky ganks by FSU put them up too far for the RAMS to overcome in the late part of the game. The second game was even rougher, as a tough draft led to an early lead loss. Late game scalability by the FSU draft meant they ran away with the game. So the RAMS fell 0-2.

Call of Duty: League Play – Week 2 of Call of Duty League play had us lined up against Independence Community College. WOW was this an exciting match to watch! Map trades back and forth lead to yet another 5th map tiebreaker and the excitement did not end there. The RAMS fought hard and gave the ICC team reason to pause, but did ultimately fall 2-3 to the ICC team.
