Girls on the Run First Aid Volunteers

My name is Callie Hammer and I am the Roanoke Area Program Director for Girls on the Run Central Virginia and Blue Ridge.  Girls on the Run is a nonprofit that operates as an after-school program which is designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. The program has daily lessons emphasizing the important connection between physical and emotional health and creatively integrates running. At the end of the 10 week long program, girls complete a Celebratory 5K, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment, setting a confident and goal-oriented mindset into motion.

Our Celebratory 5K is a time when families, teachers, school staff and the community come out to support and cheer on our participants to celebrate their uniqueness , their strength, and their ability to accomplish their goals. On May 7th, we are having our Roanoke Celebratory 5K for our programs across the valley at Green Hill Park from 8:00am- 11:00am.

We are in desperate need for qualified first aid volunteers to help keep all of our participants and other event attendees safe. I was wondering if you had staff that would be able to volunteer with us on the day of our race?

Our number one priority is to keep everyone safe and to take the necessary precautions to do so.

Thank you for your time!

Callie
